The Tunisian Ministry of Industry has prepared a bill so that private investors can implement energy projects from renewable energy. This is within the framework of a national plan to generate 30% of electricity (3,700 MW) from renewable sources in 2030.
The cost of this plan would amount to €6,000 million, an amount which the Tunisian Company of Electricity and Gas cannot meet alone. The new law opens the door to investors with the condition that the energy produced goes exclusively to the company.
This plan will help reduce the volume of public spending on electricity production at 26 million dinars and will help create 10,000 jobs.
