Masdar has reviewed its solar and wind energy projects implemented in 2013 in the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, the Seychelles and Mauritania which added over 750MW to the total renewable capacity installed worldwide.
In March 2013 Masdar inaugurated the Shams 1 plant in Abu Dhabi with a capacity of 100 MW which makes it the largest concentrated solar power (CSP) plant in the world. In June, it built a 6MW wind farm in the Seychelles to meet 8% of the electricity needs of the Mahé island, the largest archipelago. In July, it opened the London Array project, the largest offshore wind farm in the world located at the mouth of the River Thames (175 turbines and a capacity of 630MW).
