First wind energy project in Jordan

On 18 November, contracts for the first project to generate electricity from wind energy in the province of Tafila were signed in Amman. The wind farm will have a capacity of 117 MW and a total investment of 205 million dinars. The project includes the installation of 38 mills. This project is part of the national strategy for renewable energy to reach a share of 10% of the energy mix in 2020. The field will be operational by mid-2015. This project will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 40 tons per year.
